Gone
© 2014, Stolen Rhodes

Jack and Tyke are quick with a knife
Saddle up in the dead of night
Slingshot Eddie and Holy Bill
Two blood brothers with a man to kill

Thirty miles outside of Omaha
A young man was hustling pool in a roadside bar
The door blew open and the barflies ran away
When the Four Padres rolled up on a young man's judgement day

Everybody was gone, gone, they ain't coming back
Gone, gone and baby, that's a fact
Gone, gone in the blink of an eye
They're gone, gone, bye bye

"So you turned your back and you think you're gonna hide?
Don't need the law, 'cause I got iron on my side."
Slingshot Eddie pulled his chrome .45
And said "there's no soul here who could ever save your life!"

The young man took off running when Eddie shot out the light
Ducked out the side door and out into the night
He could go left and he could go right, but he swore he wasn't going down
And asked the heavy hand for mercy, and he hauled ass out of town

And now he's gone, gone, he ain't coming back
Gone, gone and baby, that's a fact
Gone, gone in the blink of an eye
Gone, gone, bye bye
There's blood upon the mesa, there's bones strewn on the plain
There's a grave out in the desert and a ghostly widow's pain
Revelation has four horsemen to bring about the end of days
But the living world will run from the Four Padres

He reached the state line by the time his tank was dry
Pushed his bike in the ravine under cover of a coal black sky
When the dust had almost settled, in the distance he could see
Four headlights approaching…

And now he's gone, gone, he ain't coming back
Gone, gone and baby, that's a fact
Gone, gone in the blink of an eye
Revelation has four horsemen to bring about the end of days
So don't you dare double-cross the Four Padres!
